Early morning sunshine greeted the drivers at this year's Car Trial at Hungry Hill, for the briefing by organisers Simon May, Matt Carter and Paul Prescott. A busy day's trialling followed, and after six runs up four sets of hills, with the results decided by Index of Performance, first overall in the National B event, for contenders in the ACSMC PCT Championship, went (yet again) to Michael Weeks, with father Colin co-driving in the black MG Midget. In the Clubsport event, Keith Pettit emerged the winner in his green Mk 1 Sprite, with Fran Barham in the left hand seat.

Dennis and Lynda Futcher took their 998 Mini to second overall and first in class 2B in National B, while in Clubsport, newcomer Richard Pennick won the Novice award, also finishing 3rd overall, and sharing the driving with Andrew Clark, in the Polo which they bought for the event.

Andrew Kemp showed what can be done in a Carlton Estate, taking second in Class C2, and the Oxford Universities Motorsport Foundation team entered three drivers for this rally prepared Riley 1.5; their enthusiasm, alone, would have propelled the Riley up most of the hills! In this shot, we think it's Ding Boston at the wheel.

Peter Manning and his familiar Midget are seen here heading for second overall in the Clubsport event, and in the Fiat Brava, Adrian May and Rob Rollinson took second and fifth in their class; also winning the award for the best combined performance, by two drivers in the same car (for its real name, see the results on Page 2).
