FDMC Winter Production Car Trial, December 2002

Another way to have fun with cars: for the second year running, the Winter PCT used the Army's Hungry Hill training area. We hope this selection of pictures gives an idea of the terrain, and of what Trialling is about....
A healthy entry of 38 drivers, and their intrepid passengers, tackled 12 hills, each attempted twice. As usual in PCT's, scores were based on how far you could get your car up each hill, plus an Index of Performance calculation, intended to equalise the performances of each class.
Older types of car can still be very competitive in these events, as shown here by Don Griffiths' Austin 7, and Dave Smith's Tempest trials special - both of whom were class winners! Our last picture shows some of the competitors en route to the next hill, with David Sheffield's Midget in the foreground.

FDMC's next PCT will be the Valentine Trial on February 9th: details on this website in January.
