Soloing - Star Wars style!

The second of our 2008 Solo's returned to Bordon, with a new organising team, a new format, and a new name, in honour of the date. In the dry conditions, two Caterham drivers were soon heading the field, and after three runs through the four courses, Fastest Time of Day went to Andrew Thompson in his silver car, with Barry McClure taking 2nd overall and 1st in class in his orange example.

Among the next leading group, a fierce day's competition saw Mike Biss flinging his Astra into 3rd position overall, by just half a second from Paul Prescott in his Mini, hotly pursued by Russell Smith, who was sharing Richard Aldcroft's Honda CRX; with each of these drivers also winning their class.

Close behind, David Garside finished 6th overall and 2nd in class with his 2 litre Nova. Among the Historics in Class A, Keith Pettit was the winner in his Mk1 Sprite, which is well past its 50th birthday!

New FDMC members, competing here for the first time, included Andrew Clark, who shared the Peugeot 106 with Daniela Graf; Paul Swindells with his black Toyota MR2 Mk1, Geoff Rodd with his Maxda MX5, and trials expert Barrie Parker, with one of the increasingly popular Lotus Elises. Another MR2, the red one, was driven by previous winner Simon Trickett, seen here in a stylish drift, on his way to 1st in class and 7th overall.
