FDMC Dimanche Sprint, April 2009
A day's sprinting includes some time to chat in the paddock, and the conversations here involve Steve Woodings, Ian Hardy, and
in the yellow tabard, cameraman Colin Robinson, holding his new EOS 1D (photographers will know what we mean).
Bob Gibson, from Sevenoaks & District MC, drove his highly developed Alpine A110 to 6th overall and first in Class 8, on just 1400 cc's of
Renault power. Several of us would have liked to take this car home!
Among the MG drivers, Tim Read displayed 'le classic British sports car' with his MGA, while Andrew Till took the win in Class 1, with
his more modern 1.8 ZR. The unofficial, but always fierce contest for 'fastest MGB' went to Richard Withers, also taking fourth in class 9
and 15th overall; his 56.59 time believed to be the best ever in an 'B' at Rushmoor.
Some more first-time FDMC competitors ; Adam Phelps, who finished a promising 4th in Class 8 and 24th overall in this 1.4
Peugeot 205, shared with his father John: Nick Keyser, with his rare Reliant Scimitar SS1 1600; Paul Fidler, in his very smart 1380 Mini
Clubman; and Matthew Fry, with his Fiat 128 Rally, which is restored to 'better than new' condition!
