On a blisteringly hot June weekend, this year's CAR-nival Rally ran with its usual full entry, comprising 100 cars. This included nine FDMC crews, and of these, Guy Wigley and Mark Burton, in their ex - Francois Delecour Peugeot 306 Maxi, were front runners in the event throughout the day, eventually finishing third overall
Neil Harrison, with Terri Pearson co driving, finished 'best of the rest' among the FDMC entries, and a strong 33rd overall, on the first ever rally outing for Neil's 205GTi 1.9.
Next placed, 40th overall and 10th in class, were Adrian May and Graham Skeggs, after suffering a couple of punctures in their 205GTi 1.6.
Three more of our entries, who finished close together, were Dave Dockree and Nick Davies with Dave's familiar Sunbeam Ti 1.6, Russell Roberts and Simon May in Russell's 205 GTi 1.9, and the first rally appearance for the legendary MG Maestro of FDMC chairman Steve Castle, partnered by David Penn.

And our less lucky crews..... Peter Egerton and Simon Staddon retired their Corsa early on, with doubts about engine oil pressure
Matthew Creak, the club's youngest rally driver, co-driven by father Peter, had to park the Nova with suspension damage.
Maurice May and Roger Hamilton-Lane had to retire Maurice's Escort close to the end, with an engine problem.
