Our premier event, the CAR-nival motorsport weekend is organised jointly with Sutton and Cheam MC, at Abingdon Airfield. Its unique and very popular format combines, over two days, a sprint with two timed courses, a single venue tarmac stage rally, a tarmac autotest run by Windsor CC, and various social activities.
These pictures show some of the FDMC competitors in 2002, starting with the Rally. First, Guy Wigley and Bruce Coate Bond in Guy's Escort, and Dave Dockree and Nick Davies with Dave's Sunbeam: .
New member Brian Stevens gave his recently acquired 205 a first outing, taking 36th overall, and Simon and Adrian May took the Best FDMC award in their Escort.
Among 13 FDMC entries in Saturday's Sprint - first, Nick Davies and Keith Hazell:
Roger Hamilton Lane and Bruce Driffill:
Craig Smith and Maurice May:
Matthew Preston and Dave Leonard:
Richard Field and Rod Styles:
Most of the FDMC entrants were in 'production' classes, but for Rod Styles' Anglia, following many hours in the garage, the current spec includes a 1700 crossflow engine, rack and pinion steering, 5 speed Sierra box, LSD, reworked suspension and brakes.....
