Stand at ease, men!
Gathered for our 12th annual loose surfaced slalom, the drivers show off a range of motorsport leisureware, while being briefed here by Clerk of the Course Steve Woodings (modelling the orange tabard). They were about to embark on a busy day's driving, with three tests in the morning, another three in the afternoon, and three runs through each, with their best two times to count.
Under starter's orders: Bill Anderson, sharing Alan Hockham's Caterham, was waiting in the rural surroundings of Deepcut, for Andy Owler to lift the flag and let him loose into Test 2. Roger Dudley, a regular competitor here, was heading between the trees of Test 3 with his Mini based Scamp kit car, on his way to another first overall position at this event, with a total time of 587.2 seconds.

Battling hard behind the flying Scamp were two drivers from Bournemouth & District Car Club, Richard Bailey (Mini 1275GT) and Luke Dale (Corsa). They eventually finished just 2.4 seconds apart, with Richard taking second overall on 617.1 seconds and winning Class A, and Luke third overall on 619.5 seconds to win Class B. In the PCA (young drivers) section, Joe Bailey drove the same Mini to take first place.
Richard Olsen from Tunbridge Wells MC finished fourth overall, and took the second place award in the large Class B with the Citroen AX, Emma Olsen also sharing this car; and in the PCA section Anna Prescott was the runner - up, in one of her first competitive events, at the wheel of Paul Prescott's familar Mini
Mike Taylor was using his Mk3 Escort, which is partway to being prepared for track days - a larger engine is the next item on the list - while the immaculate Mk 1 Escort Mexico was being driven by Martin Neal. The Astra was recently acquired by Brett Daniels and Simon Rose, for our autumn offroad events, with its proud owners winning the unique Share a Shed award, for the best performance by two FDMC members in the same car.
