A Grand Day Out: Sunshine, at Eeelmoor!

Our end of season Sprint Royale was blessed with fine weather (for once), and this report brings you a selection of the award winners, and of the other competitors - who had just as much fun. After a day of fierce competition, the man who took Fastest Time of Day was Paul Kenny, in his mighty Nissan Skyline GTR, with Ian Gaskell closest behind, in his self - developed 1.4 BDH Westfield.

Third overall was Tony Perrett in his rear wheel drive, 2 litre Fiesta, followed by Brian Stevens in another unique Westfield, propelled by a screaming rotary Mazda engine. Alastair Flack's TR7 V8 was another car producing splendid sound effects, as he powered it to first in Class 9, and sixth overall.

Downton Minis - still the best! Paul Shepherd scored first place in Class 1, out of 15 entries, with his showpiece Cooper 'S', entered by the legendary Downton Engineering Works Social Club. Andrew Till, from the MG Car Club, took his 1.4 MG ZR to fourth place in the same class

FDMC member Ian Hardy and his Mazda MX5 finished sixth out of 15 entries in Class 2 (hold that slide, Ian...), and Nick Davies is just leaving the startline in Dave Dockree's Sunbeam 1.6 Ti, which has competed in more events than anyone can remember.
