The CAR-nival Sprint, with its unusual format of two separate courses running concurrently, and its status as a round of several championships, always attracts a large, high quality entry (over 140, this year). This report concentrates on the FDMC drivers, some of whom are front runners in their class, while others were competing more 'for fun'. Finishing 5th overall, as well as winning Class 5, was Andy Silman, driving his blue 2 litre Westfield, with regular rival Simon Besant, in his yellow V8 version, close behind. ![]() ![]() Class 1 saw the battle of the Metro GTi's, with Terry Dear (car 8) finishing just ahead of Edward Crowe (car 7), to take 5th and 6th in class. ![]() ![]() Pursuing them were Ken Martin (Peugeot 106) and Rob Choules (Suzuki Swift), after Ian Anderson and his Mini had to retire. ![]() ![]() ![]() In class 2, Maurice May took fourth place with the May Motorsport R5GT Turbo, seen here in characteristic pose, closely followed by Ian Rogers' MR2, and Roger Hamilton-Lane's 205 GTi 1.9. ![]() ![]() ![]() Out of 22 entries in Class 3, Nick Davies was our highest finisher at 6th, sharing the Maxda RX7 with its owner, Dave Dockree. ![]() Also in class 3, George Wall displayed his classic Audi Quattro in action, Mark Tottle shared his Seat Leon Cupra R with car preparation expert Gwyn Jones, and FDMC's magazine editor Martyn Crowe tried this unusual line at the Bentley chicane, with his Porsche 944 turbo. ![]() ![]() ![]() For more pictures, and results, click to PAGE 2 |
